Improve your French communication skills!

Do you want to be able to hold conversations in French during your next trip, get a bilingual job, or chat with your children and loved ones who are learning French?

La Cité has courses for adult learners (aged 18 and above) who want to learn or improve their French.

Our approach: Oral comprehension and expression through practical exercises that include grammatical structures. Students are grouped based on their levels in French.

Please note that a textbook is required for each level. If you do not already have the textbook, you can purchase it through La Cité. If you have any questions, please contact us by email: centrefr.cite@uregina.ca.

What’s my language level?

If you have never taken a non-credit French course with La Cité, or if the last course you took was more than 12 months ago, you will need to take a placement test. This test is conducted by phone and takes about 20 minutes. If you have never studied French, you will automatically start at level A1 - Beginner. If necessary, we will contact you after your registration to arrange the date and time of your placement test.

Course schedule

General information: 

• You will receive a payment confirmation after completing your registration.
• The deadline for any changes is 10 business days before the start date of the first class.
• No refunds after the deadline, unless La Cité cancels a course due to insufficient enrollment.
• In case of withdrawal before the deadline, a $50 administrative fee will be retained. A medical certificate will be required for withdrawal due to health reasons. In such a case, the administrative fees will be refunded.

Winter 2025 (12 weeks / 30 hours)

• A1 (Saturday, from 9 to 11:30 am) – January 25 to April 12, 2025
• A1 (Tuesday, from 6 to 8:30 pm) – January 28 to April 15, 2025
• A2 (Tuesday, from 6 to 8:30 pm) – January 28 to April 15, 2025
• B1 (Tuesday, from 6 to 8:30 pm) – January 28 to April 15, 2025
• B2 (Tuesday, from 6 to 8:30 pm) – January 28 to April 15, 2025

Early registration (by January 6, 2025): $420
Regular fee: $450
