Dr. Sophie Gaudet Appointed Dean of La Cité universitaire francophone
Regina, June 12 - We are delighted to announce that, following a rigorous national search and in consultation with the President of the University of Regina, Dr. Sophie Gaudet will assume the role of Dean of La Cité universitaire francophone (La Cité), effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Gaudet has served as Interim Dean since September 2024 and as Associate Dean since October 2022, guiding La Cité through a period of strategic growth and innovation.
With a PhD in Experimental (social and quantitative) Psychology from the University of Ottawa and a BA Honours in Social Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Gaudet brings extensive leadership experience across academia, government, and the consulting sector to the position. Her collaborative approach, strategic vision, and commitment to academic excellence and community engagement have driven numerous initiatives to enhance opportunities for francophone and francophile students and faculty.
Reflecting on her new role, Dr. Gaudet shares:
“My vision for La Cité is to amplify our role as a vibrant francophone hub that is growing teaching and research, strengthening cultural and linguistic vitality, and empowering every student to thrive. In partnership with the Francophone community, we will expand opportunities for students and grow La Cité’s reputation as a leader in French and bilingual higher education.”
