Program Overview
Côte à Côte is a joint initiative between La Cité universitaire francophone and several Canadian universities (Campus Saint-Jean, Université de Moncton, UBC-SFM, Université de l’Ontario français, and Université de Montréal). It promotes undergraduate student mobility across the country. This innovative program offers students an inclusive and immersive mobility experience focused on experiential learning and community engagement in a Francophone environment.
This project is made possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Saskatchewan, which provides each participant with a $5,000 grant to cover program-related costs.
This project aims to foster a deeper understanding of the realities faced by Francophone minority communities and to strengthen relationships between Francophone universities and their community partners. The goal is to offer diverse experiential opportunities in fields such as health, nursing, natural sciences, and environmental studies, fostering a dynamic and inclusive Francophonie.
- Duration : 2 months (May to June 2025)
- Objective : Provide students with an opportunity to explore Francophone Canada, develop professional and personal skills, and enhance their employability.
- Partner Universities:French-speaking institutions across various provinces.
Program Options
Students can choose from three paths that combine theory and practice:
- Academic Courses: Take two courses (3 credits each) in various fields of interest.
- Community Internship: Complete a 6-credit internship in a Francophone community organization and contribute to its mission.
- Course + Internship: Combine a 3-credit course with a 3-credit internship for a comprehensive experience.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Côte à Côte program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid study permit until December 2025
- Submit a one-page motivation letter explaining:
- The selected experience (courses, internship, or combination)
- Study program
- Career aspirations
- Interest in Francophone Canada.
- Provide a resume (CV)
- Be enrolled part-time in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree program during the Summer 2025 term
Application Deadline: January 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
Additional Information
- Depending on the academic pathway, these experiences may or may not count towards a student’s degree.
- Spaces at each partner university are limited.
Target Audience
- The program primarily targets undergraduate students enrolled at participating universities from various disciplines and backgrounds. Special consideration is given to applicants with disabilities, financial challenges, or from Indigenous communities.
- Francophone community organizations are also key stakeholders, as they host interns and play an active role in enhancing the learning experience.
Program Impact
- This program supports the core missions of higher education institutions: teaching, research, creation, and community service. The key impacts include:

- Strengthened partnerships between higher education institutions and Francophone community organizations.
- Opportunities for collaborative research on student mobility and community engagement.
Financial Support
- Thanks to the support of the Government of Saskatchewan, each participant receives a $5,000 grant to support their participation in the program.
