General Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions
If you have completed postsecondary studies outside Canada, begin by consulting the admission requirements by country. Contact La Cité if you wish to obtain a translation or if your country is not listed.
Before arriving, you will have to complete the following steps in order to be admitted to undergraduate studies at the University of Regina:
- Complete the online admission application
- Pay the $100 application fee for undergraduate programs or the $125 application fee for graduate programs (by credit card, or click here to make a funds transfer)
- Submit your high school (lycée) transcript
- Submit postsecondary transcripts, if applicable
- Submit proof of English language proficiency*
- Provide a copy of your passport
- If you have been out of school for more than two years, briefly describe your work during that time
*If you have not completed your test, the University may still grant you a conditional letter of admission

You must provide your original documents when you arrive in Regina. If your documents are not in English or French, please provide a certified English translation of all documents.
In order to obtain credit transfer, you must have postsecondary documents forwarded directly from the institution in a sealed envelope. There will be a $100 fee if you wish to send your documents by courier.

Study Permits
You must obtain a study permit before coming to study in Canada. Once you have received your admission letter from the University of Regina, you can apply immediately for a study permit and a temporary resident visa. Note that it is important to apply as soon as possible since wait times may be significant.
When you have been approved for a study permit, you will receive a letter for your visa. You must bring this letter with you on the plane and present it to the immigration agent once you arrive in Canada. You will receive your study permit at that time.

Temporary Resident Visa
You can apply for two types of temporary resident visa:
- Single entry visa
- Multiple entry visa
Be sure to keep your visa updated and renew it before it expires.

Proof of English language proficiency
Proof of English language proficiency is required for all students at the University of Regina, except for students who have completed:
- Grade 11 and 12 in a high school in Canada or the United States
- The equivalent of 24 credits in an English-language postsecondary institution (minimum of 6 credits in humanities or social sciences with an average of 60% or higher)
- IB Program (result of 4 or higher in the English course), AP (result of 3 or higher in the English course) or a satisfactory result in SAT II English
English Proficiency Test
The CELT (Comprehensive English Language Test) is offered by La Cité for Francophone students. It can be taken in person at the Student Services Centre. The test will indicate whether your level of English is sufficient for admittance to the University of Regina.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
The ESL (English as a Second Language) program, accredited by Languages Canada, is offered to students aged 16 and older who wish to learn or improve their spoken and written English, particularly those who plan to do studies at the University of Regina.
The program includes:
- 13 weeks of classes per term
- 3 terms a year
- 252 class hours per term
