La Cité Signs Partnership Charter with Three Faculties to Strengthen French-Language Education

On May 28, 2025, La Cité universitaire francophone, in partnership with the Faculties of Education, Nursing, and Social Work at the University of Regina, formalized an intra-institutional Partnership Charter designed to strengthen French-language programming and student services across campus. The signing ceremony, held at La Cité’s rotunda, CT 216, marks a major milestone in the University’s commitment to francophone and bilingual education in Saskatchewan.

The Charter establishes a structured framework for collaboration among La Cité and its faculty partners, ensuring that students benefit from coherent, high-quality programs and support services in French. By aligning strategic objectives and clarifying roles and responsibilities, the agreement paves the way for innovative pedagogical initiatives, cultural activities, and community outreach.

Present to sign the Charter were:

  • Cathy Rocke, Dean of Social Work
  • Robin Evans, Interim Dean, Faculty of Nursing
  • James Nahachewsky, Dean of Education
  • Sophie Gaudet, Interim Dean, La Cité universitaire francophone
  • David Gregory, Interim Provost and Vice-President (Academic)

Today’s signing underscores our shared vision for a truly bilingual university experience. By working together, we are reinforcing our commitment to linguistic equity, student success, and the vibrant francophone culture that enriches our campus and our province.

Key Benefits of the Charter

  • Enhanced Student Experience: Streamlined access to French-language courses, advising, and extracurricular activities
  • Academic Autonomy and Cooperation: Each faculty retains its independence while collaborating on language and cultural initiatives
  • Strategic Use of Resources: Coordinated programming and joint planning ensure efficient deployment of funding and facilities
  • Community Engagement: Stronger ties with the Fransaskoise community and expanded outreach to francophone partners

This Partnership Charter represents a strategic step forward in the University of Regina’s Franco-Saskatchewan vision. Media outlets, students, and community members are invited to learn more about upcoming collaborative programs and services by visiting https://lacite.uregina.ca.
