General Undergraduate Admission

Enrolment in La Cité and Le Bac

An overall GPA of 65% or higher in the following 30-level classes (or equivalencies):

  • Two English or French classes*
  • One math or science class
  • One language, social science or art class
  • One additional approved class from list A or list B (see admission-related topics below)

Application Form – University of Regina

Enrolment in the Faculty of Nursing

An overall GPA of 70% or higher in the following 30-level classes (or equivalencies):

  • Two English or French classes*
  • Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-calculus 30
  • Biology 30
  • Chemistry 30

Application Form – Nursing

* Students enrolled in a French or French immersion school may use the classes Français fransaskois A30/B30 or Français immersion in combination with one English Language Arts class

If you are a student from a school outside Saskatchewan, please contact La Cité or consult the university’s website to obtain the provincial equivalency of required courses.

Once you have been accepted at the University, you will need to take the French placement test offered by La Cité.

Note that if you have been admitted to La Cité universitaire francophone via Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, or Luther College, you will need to consult its own website in order to receive comprehensive information regarding its services and your academic file.

 

Priority Undergraduate Admission

Grade 12 students may apply for admission to the University of Regina during their first term. Advantages include:

  • Academic guidance and priority course registration
  • Opportunity to apply for merit-based scholarships
  • Guaranteed room in residence

 

Steps for obtaining priority admission:

1. Submit the following documents by the deadline (above):

  • Application form (online)
  • Transcript of high school marks (high school students may provide an interim report card)*
  • Timetable or list of anticipated grade 12 classes

*Applicants to the Faculty of Education: Grade 12 first-term final marks must be included in your transcript of marks

2. Submit official transcripts by August 1:

  • The final average will be calculated based on required classes by faculty
  • Official transcripts must be sent directly by the Ministry of Education or your high school (out of province students only)
  • Address transcripts to:

Transfer Credit

IB/AP

Students who complete an International Bachelor’s (IB or BI) or Advanced Placement (AP) program may receive credits from the University of Regina. In order to receive your credits, you must pass the placement test. Subsequently, the Department of French and Francophone Intercultural Studies will notify you whether you will receive credits and, if so, for what courses.

Explore

Participation in the Explore program does not guarantee credit transfer at the University of Regina. You must first notify the Explore program director that you wish to obtain credits, after which the director will be required to forward a copy of your transcript to the University of Regina. The Department of French and Francophone Intercultural Studies will then assess your request.

 

Subjects Required for Admission

For the Faculties of Administration, Engineering, Kinesiology, Nursing, and Science, admission will be based on the average of the following classes:

  • One English or French class (grade 11 or 12)
  • One math class (grade 11 or 12)
  • One math or science class (grade 11 or 12)
  • One language, social science or fine arts class (grade 11 or 12)
  • One class from list A or list B (grade 11 or 12)

For the Faculties of Arts, Education, Social Work, and Media, Art and Performance, admission will be based on the average of the following classes:

  • One English or French class (grade 11 or 12)
  • One math or science class (grade 11 or 12)
  • One language, social science or fine arts class (grade 11 or 12)
  • Two classes from list A or list B (grade 11 or 12)
  • A maximum of two math classes may be used
  • One fine arts, Christian/religious studies or physical education class may be used
  • The 3rd, 4th and 5th classes must be different
  • Minimum averages vary by faculty
  • The Faculty of Administration requires an 85% average for its Excellence Program (direct entry) and 65% for the admissible program
  • The Faculty of Nursing has a competitive admission process and requires a 70% average in every class
  • The Faculty of Education also has a competitive admission process
