Test d'évaluation de français (TEF)

The Test d'évaluation de français (TEF) is a French assessment examination organized by the French Language Centre of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris Île-de-France. La Cité offers three versions of the TEF: TEF CanadaTEFAQ (for immigration to Québec specifically) and TEF for studies in France

No diploma is required to take the TEF. The test is intended for anyone over the age of 16 who wishes to have his or her French-language skills evaluated.

Exam sessions take place during the day, one Friday per month, at La Cité beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Please register for the desired exam session at least 10 days before before the test date. We recommend registering as early as possible, because the number of candidates per session is limited. Forms received after a registration deadline will be retained for a future exam session.

This multiple choice test assesses a candidate's ability to understand, speak, read and write French as it is used in the international workplace. This test opens opportunities for programs of study or for employment.

The TFI test is a product of Educational Testing Service (ETS), developer of psychometric tests such as the SAT, TOEFL and TOEIC.

The test takes approximately 2.5 hours and starts at noon.
