Fragments of Identity

This series, titled Fragments of Identity, is made up of six episodes, each independent from the next. An episode consists of a collection of six 10-inch glass bottles. Inside each bottle is a photograph, laminated to preserve its integrity, as well as organic materials used as fillers (oils, salts, mosses, spices, natural fibers, etc.). Accompanying each episode are thematically-inspired poems.

This series is an exploration of the many pieces that forge my identity. A fragmented photographic mural that tells a story, an experience. I use the bottle as a medium to encapsulate these pieces of life and give them a frame of reference. They can be interpreted in many ways. The container’s shape deforms, by curving appearances, and gives depth to aspects of reality. The glass vessel becomes a mirror of myself, always changing, rarely static.
